2019 Candidate for East Hampton Town Trustee
Susan Vorpahl is seeking re-election to a second term as an East Hampton Town Trustee. Born and raised in Amagansett to Mary and the late Stuart B Vorpahl Jr., Susan has a rich local family history dating back many generations. She grew up on the water with her Dad Stuart, a well-known and highly regarded commercial fisherman and former Town Trustee, and she understands how vitally urgent the management of the waterways, beaches and roads under the Trustee's jurisdiction is for the people of East Hampton. Susan raised her two children, Kyle and Meghan, with the same deep respect and appreciation for East Hampton's unique history and beauty. Working as a Public Safety Dispatcher for the East Hampton Town Police Department, a volunteer EMT-B with the East Hampton Village Ambulance Association, a certified CPR instructor, a member of the East Hampton Healthcare’s Public Access Defibrillator Program, and a Deacon in her Church, Susan knows, first-hand and on many levels, how important it is to give back to her community; her experience and ability to think, act and solve problems under pressure have been essential during her first term as Trustee. Susan Vorpahl would like to continue to support our fisherman, and to help to ensure public access to our beaches and Trustee roads. She is willing and able to exigently address the many complex issues involved in keeping the ponds, harbors and bays open to navigation and, importantly, free from pollution. Susan Vorpahl will continue to strive to maintain and uphold the ideal of what the Trustees of the Freeholders and Commonality of the Town of East Hampton represent - her service as an East Hampton Trustee is an honor she hopes her community will support.
