2019 Candidate for Town Justice
Lisa Rana has served as an East Hampton Town Justice for the past 16 years. She is also the Sag Harbor Village Justice. Judge Rana earned her law degree from Touro Law Center where she was a member of the Touro Law Review. In addition, she earned her B.A. from Hampshire College where she majored in Psychology,
Prior to her election as East Hampton Town Justice, Judge Rana served as the Chief Administrative Law Judge for the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission, and later as that agency's Chief of Staff. Upon admission to the New York State Bar, she maintained a private practice in New York which focused on matters concerning children and youth, including representing children in juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, custody, adoption and child abuse/neglect proceedings. Prior to attending law school,
Judge Rana was employed as a caseworker in New York City's foster care system and volunteered as a Rape Crisis Counselor with St. Vincent's Hospital. She currently lives in East Hampton with her husband, Kurt Kappel.
